The Truth About The Mayan Apocalypse

If you didn't read Veronica Sicoe's post on why the Apocalypse won't kill you last week, you totally missed out. Go read it, watch the video (longish, but well worth it), and spread the word to the nearest doom-monger near you.

The stone isn't Mayan but Mexica (Aztec), and
it's not a calendar, not even by the loosest of
definitions, but ignoring that, the concept is
brilliant :)

  3. Thanks for the PSA - much appreciated, since all the shizz is meant to hit the celestial fan on my (42nd!) birthday (which, admittedly, feels like the end of the world to me). ;-)

    1. 42nd, eh? I'm turning 40 next Feb (Mayans allowing), and I get what you mean, Mina :) Still, age is just a number, eh? Thanks for the visit!

  4. Hahahaha too funny thanks for the link, but I admit, I'm also allergic to BS and didn't think it was worth devoting 50+ minutes to watching the video.

...and I've always been puzzled by the whole Aztec/Mayan mix-up on the *calendar* thing...

    1. I'll prepare a post about the Aztec "calendar" thing especially for you, Ms. Monkey :) The Mayan calendar issue is completely separate--they had their own "count" of days, which "ended" on Dec. 21, 2012--that's to say, the winter solstice. But assuming the world will end because the Mayan count ends is akin to saying the world will end on Dec. 31 this year because that's as far as my calendar goes, haha :)
