The One Positive Thing About #Trump? Endless Fodder For Ridicule

It's true. The man practically begs to be made fun of. That bit about 'the best crowds ever' at the inauguration—seriously? His choices for cabinet members—an illiterate moron for Education, a climate change denier for the EPA, a freakin' banker-slash-Wall-Street-scammer for Finance—and his own son-in-law as 'Senior Adviser'! I mean, you can't make this stuff up. Any dystopian novel that included even a fraction of this goofed-up circus would be laughed out of even the most amateur of literary agents' offices. To quote Monsieur Cheeto himself: Unbelievable.

And tragic. And—to put it mildly—worrisome. But a sense of humor is the hallmark of an educated mind, and if we can't see the hilarity in all of this, we're that much farther away from gaining the perspective we need to fight back.

Enter The Netherlands.

(Updated video, since original is 'no longer accessible'... Censured, perhaps? :D )

Got to love the Dutch. (Plus, Cheeto-man really hates to be laughed at, which makes the laughing all the more enjoyable. Thank you, dude, for elevating laughter into an instrument of resistance.)

  1. Ridicule is also his achille's heel. Oh dear, there is going to be a scientist march on Washington. I made it for the women's. I hope to do the same for the scientists or join a sister march. http://www.scientistsmarchonwashington.com/2017/01/what-is-scientists-march-on-washington.html

    1. I was just on Twitter and heard about the scientists' march, Ann—awesome!! I've also been busy searching for and following the 'rogue' national agency Twitter accounts; how horrible that it's necessary, but AWESOME that they're refusing to be silenced. We need to stand by them.

      Thanks for stopping by :)

  2. Oh Guilie, it's just unbelievable what's happening here. Thank God for laughter. And the Netherlands video is absolutely HILARIOUS!!!!! Such a great impersonation of Trump! Well done. So well done! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
Thank you. I needed this today. Truly. I always watch The Rachel Maddow Show and the 11th Hour with Brian Williams (politics) every night and get all riled up and upset so I will have to play this video after I watch those shows to lighten my mood. It's perfect!

    1. I hear you, Michele... I really needed this today, too—what with Cheeto-man signing the exec orders on the wall and de-funding sanctuary cities. *Sigh* I got the video yesterday morning from a friend via email, and haven't stopped watching it since. I still crack up every ten seconds or so of it :D And yes, the impersonation is BRILLIANT!

    1. I am — but you already found me :)

Glad you liked the video! The Dutch are pretty awesome people... Let's hope the alt-right doesn't spoil it all there this year.

  4. That was one of the funniest things I've seen so far, Guilie! ☺ You know the old saying: Might as well laugh, otherwise we'll be crying. The impersonator did an amazing job! Interesting to know there will be a scientist's march as well. I was impressed by the turnout for the first one.

    1. The Women's March this past Saturday was A-MA-ZING... So many incredible photos, so much love and hope... The progressive US we love is far from dead, and I look forward to its triumph :)

      Thanks for the visit, Debbie!

  5. He is scary with all that he has done and it is not even a week yet. Let's hope someone or some agency can reel him in. I do love this video..it's priceless!

    1. I hope so too, Birgit—but I'm not too hopeful. I think in this instance it's the people—the many movements of resistance and human rights advocacy—that need to step up and push for fairness and justice.

Glad you enjoyed the video... It really is priceless :D

  9. One more positive thing about Trump, as my seatmate on the train returning from D.C. last weekend pointed out to me: he is uniting and inflaming the resistance in a way that hasn't happened in a very long time.

  11. Hi Guilie! I shared that video on FB when I first saw it. Un-be-liev-able. I'm sure the Netherlands will go begging for any Trump largesse (oh, an oxymoron!) after that bundle of wit!

But it's deadly serious. How many lives is he disrupting? And not everyone is educated or safe or is enjoying Maslov's Hierarchy of Needs. They need an educated person to stand up for them against this tyrant or mentally-ill fascist. Go female justice who overturns some parts of thet immigration law.
Those women's marches were utterly awesome. When's the next one?

  12. One thing for sure, Trump is not opaque. We have a transparent president who's going to make huge mistakes in a very public arena.

  13. GUILIE ~
I thought this was a very clever and funny video. In fact, I Emailed it to several fellow-Trump voters yesterday, before discovering that you had also posted it here on your blog.

I'm sure I speak for the majority of Trump-voters when I say we are enjoying all the 'sploding heads. May they continue bursting for us. It's the American conservatives' time to win... for a (real) change.
