And... My first Six Sunday post of the year! My apologies to everyone that dropped in last week and didn't find an SSS excerpt--somehow I programmed the post for February 1 instead of January 1. I lay my head down at your feet, and beg forgiveness. Please.
With that out of the way, I invite you to jump right into Alexia's story of loss and regret. You can read previous excerpts here, and please remember to visit the other Six Sundayers.
We walked into the park, and when Dan’s hand took mine I flinched with guilt. I should tell him. And what exactly will you say, Alexia? Dan I have a confession to make—I’ve been holding hands with someone else? I’d done nothing wrong, really. Still, the guilt didn’t subside, and I tightened my fingers around his.
Thank you for the visit, and do I hope you'll leave a comment--feedback is always appreciated, good or bad (yeah, I'm a masochist).
Have a fantastic Sunday!
You show Alexia's internal struggle very well. Great six! :)
ReplyDeleteIt'll be interesting to see his reaction to her news. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteMy first visit to your blog. I'm wondering what she feels guilty about. I enjoyed your intriguing six.
ReplyDeleteI don't think she has anything to feel guilty about. And yes, you are forgiven. This is my first SSS of the year also
ReplyDeleteNice internal struggle—feels very humble and intimate, like the handholding.
ReplyDeleteGuilt can literally pound you into the ground and into a pulp - sounds like she's having such a time, poor girl
ReplyDeleteGreat internal conflict. Guilt is such a hydra. Poor girl.
ReplyDeleteSomething as simple and innocent as holding hands can mean something so much more, so I can understand why she's feeling the guilt. And if you are, there's probably something wrong. Honest six. Awesome.
ReplyDeletegreat six this week! I enjoyed reading it, and feeling her emotions. Nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone, for popping by--glad to see you all here :) Yeah, poor Alexia. And it's only going to get worse, unfortunately... *sigh*.
ReplyDeleteI'm running a bit behind on the SSS tour, but I'll be by your own snippets in a bit--looking forward to it!
If she's feeling guilty, something tells me there's more than handholding going on. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIf it was nothing, wouldn't she just tell Dan? Sigh. Great six! Love the confusion.
ReplyDeleteOn one hand, she feels guilty; on the other, she knows holding hands is nothing wrong. Great portrayal of her conflicting emotions.
ReplyDeleteSo innocent and bittersweet! Makes me go back in time...
