Cruising Altitude 2.0 is running WRiTE Club again! Sign up here and get ready for a one-on-one twelve-week-long fest of 500-word-long literature butting heads. Best of all, this year the final round will be judged by publishing professionals: agents, editors, published writers!
Wait, what? You don't know what WRiTE Club is? Hahahahahaa.
You're serious?
Oh, man. Okay. Here's the link to the full explanation, but the short of it is this:
You write a 500-word piece under a pen name (to protect the innocent and all that). Genre doesn't matter--even poetry is okay. You submit it (gotta sign up, though). Three times a week, starting on July 30th, a WRiTE is held to face off two of these pieces. Everyone who's signed up gets a chance to vote on the competing pieces. The winners move on into the play-offs (those start mid-October) and result ultimately in a single winner. A great way to get your writing out there for tons of readers to see without getting your pride bruised, and a wonderful chance to catch the eye of publishing professionals--agents like Sarah LaPolla, Jill Marsal, Anne Colette, and Rachelle Gardner will be among the luminaries judging the final round.
So. Sign up. Design your pseudonym. Write your 500-word best. Submit it. Read and vote. Have fun!
I love seeing references to WRiTE Club on other blogs - makes me wonder if I'll recognize some of the more distinctive voices of people I read.
ReplyDeleteI bet I'll know your piece, if it's selected to compete - no hints, though! You can tell me after it's over. :)
Hey Cindy! Are you joining too? Would be so much fun if you really could tell my piece apart, hehe. Yeah, I won't tell you :)
