I did, finally, get around to collecting the names of those who guessed right first in the Papiamentu guessing game, and writing those names on itty bitty pieces of paper...
The nine participating names, the twelve itty bitty pieces of paper (Debbie, Bob, and Sabina had two correct guesses each, so they participated twice) |
and putting those in a hat...
A beach hat -- of course ;) |
and blindly selecting three, which means
(drumroll, please)
we have the winners!!!
Congratulations Bob, Susan, and the blogger at Pempi's Palace! I'll drop by your blogs to let you know, and we can communicate (email me at guilie (dot) quietlaughter (at) gmail (dot) com, or via Facebook) to figure out how to get your copy of The Miracle of Small Things to you. The book won't be released until this summer, July probably, so we have time to iron out details.
Thanks to everyone that joined in... I hope you had fun with Papiamentu's sometimes-misleading vocabulary; I certainly have, during my twelve years on this island ;)
Congrats to the winners!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your blog posts so much this April, Guilie!
Thank you, Judy! I'm so glad we connected, and I'll be looking forward to staying in touch throughout the year :)
DeleteOh thank you, thank you, thank you! Can't quite believe I'm a winner so I've had to blog about it today, Guilie over at Special Teaching at Pempi’s Palace You can contact me at pempispalace@yahoo.co.uk - if I was to ask for a hard copy would I be able to get it signed by you as well?
ReplyDeleteIt makes my day to have made yours, Ms. Cat Herder :) And absolutely YES -- it'll be my pleasure to sign your copy. And thank you for your address; I'll send you an email later today. Yay!

DeleteFound your email and sent you one. Sorry :)
DeleteThank you, Guilie! These days I am lucky to be able to guess my own age. Congrats to Susan and Senco.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Bob. But I beg to differ; you guessed right *twice*, and you didn't even participate in all the guessing posts. That's either gigantic luck or a heck of a good brain ;) I hope you enjoy the book!
DeleteCongrats to the winners! Great job this year, Guilie!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Chuck! I loved connecting with you, and look forward to staying in touch throughout the year :)

Thank you, Hilary! "Vibrancy" -- that might be the nicest thing anyone has ever said about this blog. I'll cherish that :) And thank you so much for joining in on the guessing game; I had so much fun coming up with the expressions, and I'm glad you enjoyed the posts and the Curaçao tidbits.
